So don’t wait any longer; dive in and get ready to set your sights on Steiner’s 7×50 Marine binoculars.

What Are Marine Binoculars?

Marine binoculars are waterproof binoculars designed for ease of use in unforgiving environments that destroy the average optic system.

They are usually made with a marine-grade aluminum alloy body that can absorb severe shock, and they have a flexible silicone lens mount that reduces vibration. Marine binoculars also have a higher level of water resistance than standard binoculars, making them ideal for use in rough conditions.

Additionally, marine binoculars often have coated lenses that help to reduce glare and improve clarity.

Why Size 7×50 for Marine Binoculars?

First, the seven (7) power magnification means you can see accurately, seven times farther than the naked human eye.

Next, 50 represents the diameter of the objective lens. The diameter of the objective lens determines how much light enters the lens. Therefore, the larger the diameter, the more capable the lens is in low light conditions. Similarly, the larger the lens, the clearer the image.

The combination of the two, 7×50, means that you will have a wider field of view at 1000 yards than you will with a smaller, less robust set of binos at the same distance.

The drawback to a larger lens is a larger set of binoculars. For example, Steiner’s 7×50 Marine Binoculars weigh just under 38 ounces, whereas the Steiner 8×30 Military Marine Binoculars weigh slightly over 17 ounces. The primary difference between the two—is the size of the objective lens.

How to Setup Steiner 7×50 Marine Binoculars

Adjust the Interocular Distance

The interocular distance is the distance between your eyes. The measurement of your interocular distance can be found on your marine binoculars, as in the image below.

Set the Sports Auto Focus System:

The Sports Auto Focus system is a binocular system that allows users to see clearly at any distance without constantly adjusting the focus. In a nutshell, once set, you should never have to mess with it again or until your eyesight changes.

The Sports Auto Focus system uses two lenses, one for near objects and one for far objects. The user needs to set the desired focus point once on each eyepiece, and the binoculars will automatically adjust the focus as needed and keep you viewing images razor sharp.

To set the Sports Auto Focus system:

  1. Choose a very detailed object approximately 200-meters away.
  2. Cover the left lens (objective lens) with your hand or the lens cover and look through your Steiner binoculars.
  3. Turn the right eyepiece adjustment ring until the entire image is sharp and clear in the right eye.
  4. Repeat Step #3, but with the left eye.

Once set, everything from 20 meters (65′) to as far as you can see should be clear with excellent optical clarity that keeps images razor sharp—no more chasing focus or moving objects.

It’s that simple. Your binos are set and ready to go.

How to Care for Your Marine Binoculars

  1. Start by using a soft brush or cloth to wipe dirt off the exterior of the binocular housing thoroughly.
  2. Clean the lens with dirt-free, purpose-built lens cleaning cloths. Helpful Hint: When cleaning lenses, hold the binoculars so that any dirt or debris will fall away and not back onto the lens.
  3. Remove any film or oil from the lens with a drop of lens cleaner solution and lens cloth.
  4. Remove any dirt and debris from the neck strap and lens covers.

How to Store Your Marine Binoculars

Whenever possible, store your binoculars at room temperature out of direct sunlight and preferably in a protective case. Over time, sunlight can cause the NBR coating to deteriorate.

Why I like the Steiner 7×50 Marine Binoculars

Features of the Steiner Marine Bino’s

In addition to the Sports Auto Focus System, Steiner 7×50 Marine Binoculars also have a floating prism system and high contrast optics.

What is a Floating Prism System?

Floating Prism System is used in binoculars to provide a stable image over a wide range of eye positions. It consists of a series of prisms positioned between the eyepieces and the objectives. The Floating Prism System moves the prisms in response to changes in the user’s eye position, thereby keeping the image in the eyepieces in focus over a wide range of functions.

What are High Contrast Optics?

High Contrast Optics is a type of coating applied to the lenses of Steiner binoculars. This coating helps improve the contrast of images by reducing the amount of scattered light. As a result, objects appear sharper and more defined. In addition, the High Contrast Optics coating helps to reduce glare and reflections, making it easier to see in bright conditions.

Steiner 7×50 Marine Binoculars are highly durable, waterproof, and rugged. These Steiners feature an NBR long-life rubber armoring surrounding a Makrolon housing capable of withstanding 11Gs of impact force.

History of Quality

Steiner products are world renown and synonymous with quality.

They’re ok . I use mine a few weeks a year hunting . The rubber “ amour coating” wore off in spots, almost looks like it melted ,idk bug spray from my hands maybe ? The rubber eye cups continually fall off , oh and it’s $75 bucks just for the little piece of rubber if you don’t find it .Got to the point I just replaced them with another brand , eye cups wouldn’t stay on in my pack anymore .
