However, as with everything you carry on your back, trade-offs for quality and other personal reasons happen. The fact that the Grayl is so effective and convenient makes the additional ounces something I’m willing to deal with.

Cost

There is no doubt about it: the Grayl GeoPress is more expensive than most options. And, while the initial investment might be steep, the cost of the replacement filters can quickly add up for frequent users. While you can’t escape the cost of your initial Grayl purchase, you can minimize the expense of replacing the purifier cartridges by pre-filtering your water through a Millbank Bag or a similar pre-filter option.
